Awww, how cute… NOT!!
M and I were sitting on the couch watching TV a little while ago, and Jack was sniffing around, trying to find something interesting to do. I heard a faint tap on the window next to our front door, and Jack trotted over to have a look. He was gazing intently at something, and M went to have a look what it was. M called me over to have a look, and this is what Jack was looking at (click on the pictures for a larger version):
Ohhh, look at that! A little mothy-wothy!
Ummm, no.
This is a HUGE MOFO OF A MOTHY-WOTHY!
For those who don’t like doing conversions, here is another photo.
And here is one that M took of me with my hand next to it. No I don’t have man hands - it really is a jumbo moth. And considering how much I hate moths of normal size, let alone mutant ones, I really hope you appreciate the lengths to which I went in order to bring this last photo to you.
All of you moth-haters who are thinking of coming to Australia, beware - that one is just a baby. When fully grown, their wingspan is over a metre wide. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

What are you when you’re drunk?
Today was end of month drinks at work. I don’t always drink alcohol at the end of month dos, but today I had a couple of glasses of wine. As usual with me these days, that was enough to get me drunk. Not rip-roaring drunk but certainly tipsy enough to lose some inhibitions.
Anyway, I always thought that I was a Quiet Drunk, since I tend to become even more introverted than I usually am, but today I’ve changed my mind. I think I’m a Nice, Tolerant Drunk. I had a chat to a guy at work I usually avoid as much as possible, and even though I knew his replies were the inane stuff he usually comes out with, it didn’t bother me at all. I became someone I wish I were all the time. I think I should drink more often.

Invasion
Lately we have had a severe millipede invasion at our house. I’m not talking about a few annoying ones, I’m talking about M scraping 100 millipedes a day off the wall outside the front door. They’ve come inside as well, with them all over our floors. Ugh. You take a few absent-minded steps, then… crunch.
Until recently, I’d never seen millipede poo, or seen millipedes have sex. But now I’ve seen so much of it, I’m thoroughly grossed out. Not so much by the poo as by the sex. I’m certainly no prude, and I never thought that seeing millipedes mating would have any sort of effect on me, but watching these little black worms writhing all over each other, and so many of them doing it at once, I mean geez! Horny little bastards.
And the other day I was watching a millipede edging slowly towards another one and I thought, “I know what you’re doing there, buddy” and watched. Yep, before long he’d crawled on top of the other one and they were fornicating, and right in front of my very eyes, no less! Have some decency! I guess I’m no better, being the millipede voyeur that I am. Until I decided that enough was enough, and broke up the party. Heh.

No more eating off our laps…
Finally, after nearly three years of marriage, M and I are going to have dining chairs. Yes, we really are! Our dining table came with the house, as the previous owner was a cabinet maker and made the dining table himself, and left it here when they moved out. Unfortunately, they took the chairs and we haven’t got around to replacing them.
Until today!
Well, early next week really. We decided that we should look for some this weekend, so we went down to the Homemaker Centre, which is a big shopping centre with lots of furniture and homewares shops. We went into one shop, but didn’t really find anything we liked. We continued up the strip of shops, when we found one that had chairs similar to the style and colour we wanted.
We talked to the woman there, and asked if it would be possible to get the chairs made in leather, to which she said yes, but that they would cost an extra $150 per chair (I think the chairs were around $300 as they were). So we asked if the chairs that they had were easy to keep clean (they were a white, microfibre fabric). She said it would be fairly easy to clean, and then asked if we wanted white leather. When we said yes, she got a horrified look on her face and said that she would never let anyone wearing jeans sit on them because the colour would run into the leather, which would be impossible to get out.
So we went back to the fabric ones again, with M asking how easy it would be to get cat hair off them. The woman said, “I’ve got a great book - 99 ways to kill your cat.” OK, whatever. She thought she was hilarious of course, as people making cat-hating comments always do. She said that she has a dog and is always vacuuming after him. She then asked how old the cats were. When M said they were around 4, the woman said, “Do they know where the road is?”
Ummm… what?
M and I just looked at each other. Then M said “OK, thankyou” and we walked out. Rude bitch. I couldn’t care less whether or not she likes cats, but to say something like that to a potential customer is not the way to make a sale.
We then went into the furniture shop next door, and within 10 seconds found some nice cream leather chairs that we’ve measured and think will be OK for our table. And they’re on sale and in stock! So now we just have to order them, and we should have them on Tuesday or Wednesday. I’m really looking forward to our first meal at our dining table. It’s only been three years, but we got there in the end!

An ordered list…
because I’m lazy.
- I’m still taking drugs prescribed by the doctor, but different ones this time. I thought that the last time I saw him (a few days ago) he was going to refer me to a specialist, but he thought of some more drugs he could give me so I’m on them for 2 weeks. So I think that’s around 6 weeks of pill-popping by the time I’m done. I think my throat is actually getting better now, but I don’t know.
- The motorcyclist agreed to pay, then changed his mind, so I’m now going through insurance. Not happy.
- It’s a 4-day weekend this weekend. Thank goodness for that. Sleeping will be fun.
- My thumbnail got a split below the white part, which started bleeding and I wore a bandaid over it so it wouldn’t get caught on anything and get ripped off (OWWW), but in the end I cut it off anyway and it’s not so bad. Certainly beats wearing a bandaid every day.
- I bought an mp3 player - the iriver U10. I’m very happy with it! I used the FM tuner on it when I got to work this morning.
The end. I was so lazy that I couldn’t be bothered coming up with a reasonable structure for 5 dot points. I honestly didn’t think there were going to be so few of them.
