Is there really no way to list comments and delete a whole chunk at once in Movable Type? Lately I’ve been receiving the odd unwanted comment of the automated variety, and it’s been no problem to delete them individually (although it is a bit of a pain).

When I got home tonight, I noticed several more automated comments along the lines of over-friendliness with canine friends and family members, and I went to delete them, but there were more than I bargained for - I kept deleting, and deleting… and deleting… and I didn’t seem to be getting to the end, and I didn’t know how many more there were to go.

I was going fucking crazy. I’ve tried before to find the magical button that will list them all for me with nice little checkboxes that I can tick, but haven’t come up with anything, and I didn’t find anything today either.

Does anyone know? Please?? I will be seriously eternally grateful to anyone who can help. Friggin’ MT!

M’s sister’s cat had kittens 3 days ago, and we went down today to see them (and M’s sister of course). Initially there were six of them, but one died :(

They are so cuuuuute! Even though they kind of look like rats with a mini cat’s head stuck on them. Seeing newborn kittens is old hat to M, since he grew up with cats who had kittens, but I grew up only having one cat at a time, so I’d never seen kittens so young before. They are absolutely adorable. I took a few pictures of them all sleeping together, and of M holding one of them.

Well, we cracked open the tamarillo and had a munch (that sounds like a euphemism). It tasted… weird. I don’t know how to describe it. In case you don’t know, one way to eat it is like a kiwi fruit - just cut it in half and scoop out the flesh. So that’s what we did.

It smells a bit like a kiwi fruit, and initially it tasted a bit like one, too, but then it had a tart quality to it and didn’t really taste like a kiwi fruit at all. It doesn’t have the nice refreshing taste that kiwi fruit has. So we sprinkled some sugar on it (as the website suggested), and ate it like that. It didn’t taste much different to me - not really any sweeter.

Anyway, I can now say that I’ve eaten one, and I probably won’t be rushing back to try another. I think it might be the kind of fruit that tastes strange by itself, but really good when it’s combined with something else. The site said that you can add sliced tamarillo to sandwiches - those zany New Zealanders!

I’ve never eaten a tamarillo in my life. In fact, I’d never even heard of tamarilloes until we went to the supermarket today. We saw them there, and thought we’d get one (and only one, since they cost $1.79 each) to try. I know so little about them that I had to look up how to eat them.

I’m looking forward to my first tamarillo experience.

P.S. I like saying tamarillo.

We’ve gone back to the superior cat litter - the one that actually absorbs stuff. Who wants to clean out mushy cat litter. Ewww.

So anyway, I noticed something new in the (rather small) world of cat litter - a lot of them now come with a free litter scoop inside the pack. They’re actually pretty good - they’ve got holes in them, so the unclumped litter falls back into the box, without you having to try to filter out the used bits yourself. I already had one from when I lived by myself (you had to buy them separately in ‘those days’), and so did M.

Free scoops in the pack is a good idea if you’ve never bought cat litter before, or if you’ve only ever bought one bag. So you have one, and then another spare. But do you know how long it takes to go through a bag of cat litter? In case you don’t, the answer is, ‘not very long’.

So if we keep buying the litter with the free scoops, we’re going to end up with an abundance of scoops that we’ll have no idea what to do with. They’re not terribly flimsy, either - they’re fairly robust little things.

Maybe I’ll become a power seller on eBay, selling litter scoops (unused, of course!). Considering some of the weird shit that’s available there, I don’t think it’s such a crazy idea. Well, ok it is. Really, though, what the hell am I going to do with them all!

I haven’t seen any gymnastics during the Olympic Games, other than that I saw reflected in the window of a restaurant I went to a week or so ago. I’m finally getting to see some tonight, but it’s men’s. Oh well. The poor Russian guy on vault stuffed up both of them royally, and it looks like his landings would have hurt a bit. Poor guy, I hate watching it when gymnasts hurt themselves - it reminds me of the days I use to hurt myself :) I can’t help but cringe.

There are two commentators, and one of them is a bit of a doofus - the lady is a former gymnast, so at least she can add something worthwhile, but the guy obviously has no real idea about gymnastics at all, and either agrees with whatever the woman says, or just repeats what she says, but in a slightly different way. They may as well just get rid of him!

I’ve got my boy back - yay! He was only gone for a day, but I miss him when he’s not around to say hello to.

The cats gave us a hint that we need to buy more cat litter. We got home to find that the tray had been used, and since there wasn’t much litter in there, it didn’t quite absorb much. This was evidently distasteful to them (and to me, being one of the litter monitors in the house), because as I was cleaning it up, and putting what little we had left in the box, I heard a scrabbling in another part of the house.

We don’t have two litter trays.

Then I thought, ‘oh bugger, the stones from the aquarium!’ M used to have stones in the bottom of his tank, but replaced them with sand, so the stones have been sitting in two buckets next to the tank for quite a while now.

I went over there, and couldn’t tell straight away whether she’d actually gone in the bucket, or was just scrabbling around. There was, however, moisture on the floor around and under the buckets :/ While we were cleaning it up, we saw a wet patch in one of the buckets, so she did take a wizz in there. Lovely.

On the one hand it’s annoying because taking a pee in aquarium stones is just not on, but on the other, I sort of admire her for finding something that was similar (to her at least) to her cat litter to pee in!

Doing dishes suuuuucks. Meh.

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day - gotta love Adelaide weather in the Spring (well, it’s almost Spring)! We went to Bertie’s for pancakes and I had a sweet pancake rather than a savoury one, since last time I went there my dish had bits of egg in it, and I can’t stand eggs. Blech. So that put me off a bit, and I decided then that next time I went, it would be a sweet dish.

And how sweet it was :d A crepe with cream cheese, raisins, vanilla sugar and thickened cream, with blueberries and ice cream. Ummm - YUM!!! It was fan-fugu-tastic let me tell you.

Then we wandered around town for a little while, looking at tvs and laptops, then went home. We finally got around to washing our cars - they were filthy. But now they’re both pristine and beautiful again.

Now I have to find something to do while I’m here by myself - I just got back from the airport after dropping M off. He’s going to Canberra, and will be back tomorrow night. I almost went to McDonald’s on the way home, but I refrained. Now that I’m here, though, I have no idea what I’m going to have for tea. Probably some toast. I can’t be stuffed cooking, ok!

Oh well, time to see what’s going on in the Olympics!

Like a few other people, I’ve written a quiz to see how well you guys have been paying attention. No cheating, y’hear? If you have to search through my blog to find the answers, then that doesn’t count as knowing!

If you’d like to take the test, it’s here. When you’re done, why not have a look at the scoreboard.

Good luck!
