June 2004

I went into town tonight to have a play with some PDAs, and when I was in the newsagent in David Jones I saw none other than Graeme Goodings… wooow. He’s a lot taller than I thought he was. But then, everyone’s tall to me!

We’re going to Harbourtown tomorrow. The last time we were there, I saw a beanie that I almost bought, but then changed my mind about. And now I’ve changed my mind again, and want it after all. The most recent mind change occurred when I was standing at the bus stop after TAFE one night and it was damn cold, and I thought that if I had a beanie on, I probably wouldn’t feel nearly as cold. Wearing a hat makes a huge difference.

I also need some new shoes. The ones I have have a split in the heel, and a pebble or something has become stuck in there, and it rattles when I walk, which is a bit embarrassing.

I had a long day at work today - 10 hours. It’s nice to be home. I would have come to the meetup tonight but my car battery is flat again. It’s charging now, so it should be ok when I need it tomorrow.

I bought a couple of scarves on eBay last night. I’m looking foward to getting them - it’s been bloody freezing lately!

I really love the smell of freshly-baked bread. I just had some with honey. Yum.

What else are weekends for except to play with your new car? Here’s one of the several pics that Matthew took of his new BMW. Please ignore my shitty car in the background… but I guess you didn’t even know it was there until I pointed it out!

I am totally over vacuuming. I vacuumed last weekend, and already the floor is covered in dust and fluff. I guess it doesn’t help having two cats who both shed what looks like the equivalent of a new cat in fur each week. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have more carpet in the house, rather than predominantly floorboards. Sure, floorboards look lovely when they’ve been vacuumed and polished, but instead of the sun shining in the window reflecting off the perfect-looking floorboards, more often than not it reflects off the fine layer of dust that accumulates in no time and makes them look crap. I know the dust would still be there if I had carpet, but at least I could get away with vacuuming every 2nd week instead of every week!

But anyway, it’s done now, and I’m buggered. Must exercise more.

Something I don’t get is the current trend of knee-high ugg boots worn in public. It used to be that ugg boots were to be worn strictly at home (well, depending on what suburb you lived in), and their ownership vehemently denied if you were ever asked. But now I see people wearing them all over the place. To me, ugg boots will never be acceptable footwear in public. It’s just wrong, people!

I got the styli I was waiting for - these are the ones I ended up getting.

Penatia Allwrite 4 in 1, StylusCentral Foursome Comfort Grip, Platinum Pen Zephyr Mini Trio

The first two look pretty much the same, but one has a pencil, 2 pens and a stylus, and the other has 3 pens and a stylus. So that’s why I absolutely had to get both :) Overall I’m very pleased! There are positives and negatives to each one, but nothing really worth complaining about. In fact, I’m tempted to get another of the Platinum Pens in blue.

I also got my Motorola E365 data cable today, and after a couple of hiccups, got it to sync my phone. I can’t work out how to sync the messages though… maybe you can’t. I’ll have to read the manual… definitely a last resort! So now all the pics I’ve taken with the camera are on my computer. They’re not too bad actually… here are some I took of my cat, Jack.

His eyes in the last one remind me a bit of the end of the ‘Thriller’ film clip…

After a few weeks of stuffing around, waiting for various people to pull their fingers out and get organised, Matthew finally has his new car. He picked it up yesterday, and we went for a drive today. It’s a BMW Alpina B3, and it goes pretty well :)
Now I’m in the market for a new(er) car… it’s just a matter of finding out what I can afford, and then finding something I like in that range. I’ve already seen a car I like, but I’m not sure whether it’s going to be viable.

I’m also looking for a new PDA. I’m really not sure what to get. I’m tempted to get the Sony TH55, but with Sony leaving the Clie market, I was thinking that it might be better to get something that’s going to be around for a while, especially if future upgrades don’t support memory sticks. It’s all so hard!

It’s time get out the party hats again - this time it’s the fabulous Helen celebrating her birthday. Happy birthday!!

This morning started off nice and sunny, but now it’s become a bit overcast. And here was I thinking it was going to be a perfect lazy Sunday.

Not much on the agenda today… had a big bowl of Coco Pops for breakfast, put some washing on, and after it’s been hung up, Matthew and I are going to his great-niece’s birthday party. Maybe I’ll convince him to head into town afterwards… I don’t know why, but for some reason I quite like going into town. I think it’s just another case of enjoying being out and about during the weekend, and going into town is something to do.

A little over a week ago I entered a giveaway at The Daily Gadget, to win a copy of an Astraware game, either Toucan Tango or Equilibria. I’d totally forgotten that I’d entered until I got an email last night saying that I’d won Toucan Tango! Cool man!

So I went and downloaded the demo, and tried it out while I waited for my registration code. It’s quite a cute game. You have to rearrange coloured eggs to make vertical or horizontal rows of 3 or more of the same colour. When an egg shakes, you tap on it and little hatchling toucans come out of all the eggs of that colour, flap their wings at you and drop off the bottom of the screen. Obviously I am easily pleased, because seeing that still makes me smile :)

I have a couple of other Astraware games, and really like them. They make handheld versions of PopCap games, as well as others, so Helen, you might be interested in trying out a couple on your PDA!

This is the second PDA software title I’ve won in the last month… I also won a program of my choice from TealPoint software. I decided on TealAuto, to keep track of my car details. There wasn’t really much else there that I thought I might use. But TealAuto turned out to be a good choice - I’m trying to use it regularly. Winning stuff is cool!
