November 2003

I was meant to show someone my dining suite today. She rang yesterday, and said she’d ring back this morning to arrange a time to meet there. Of course she didn’t ring. I’m disappointed and annoyed. If she had no intention of ringing back, why did she say she would? Of course, something may have come up that prevented her from calling, but it would have been nice to hear from her so I knew she wasn’t interested any more. Maybe I’m overreacting. We had a couple of calls about some other stuff we advertised, all of them saying they’d call back later. I think that’s just the standard polite way of saying that they aren’t the slightest bit interested. I wouldn’t be offended if they said thanks but no thanks. Really. At least then I wouldn’t be waiting for them to call. Oh well.

We got some more stuff done around our houses today. We did some weeding and painting at Matthew’s house, and we were going to try to fix up the bath at my house, but it didn’t work, so we’ll have to pay someone to fix my stuff up. The reason it needs fixing is that the colour scheme in my bathroom is crimson and pale blue, with brighter blue floor tiles, and I had the bright idea that I could use tile and bath paint to do it up, rather than paying to have it all retiled. So I finally got motivated to do my bath one day, and I mixed everything up like it said to, but it didn’t work. At all. I think it was too cold, because the paint just didn’t come out right, so now I have all these white streaks of varying thickness on my pale blue bath. We tried to use a heat gun to scrape the paint off, but it was taking absolutely ages, so I’m going to call someone tomorrow to resurface it. Kiss $400 goodbye. After that disaster, I’ve been too scared to try the tile paint, since I definitely can’t afford to have the whole bathroom redone if I muck that up too.

Thank goodness it has cooled down a bit now. Today was ridiculously hot. I spent all day inside, trying to keep cool, so it wasn’t a very productive day.

I’m trying to get rid of some furniture at the moment, stuff I had from my old place before I moved in with Matthew. I put an ad in today’s paper, and only got 2 calls. I guess it’s not too surprising though, since who wants to look at furniture when it’s 37 deg C outside. So I’m showing someone the dining setting tomorrow. I hope she buys it, I really need the money. I’m also trying to get my old place rented out, as is Matthew with his. They’ve both been advertised for the last 6 weeks, and still nothing. I’m getting pissed off with my agent, as it seems as though she’s not really trying that hard. Maybe this week will be it…

Hello! I have finally got around to setting up my blog, and now that I have, I’m at a bit of a loss as to how to start! I’m in the process of configuring everything and learning how it all works, so I hope you’ll bear with me during the teething period.

I guess to start things off, I’ll tell you a little about myself. I live in Adelaide, Australia with my husband of almost 4 months. We have 2 cats who used to avoid each other at all costs when we first moved in together, but have now developed a relationship of strained civility, and I think that’s the best we can hope for. I work in IT as a software engineer, which I’ve been doing for about 3 years. I have been learning Auslan (Australian Sign Language) at the Deaf Society since the beginning of the year, and am planning to start my Certificate II in Auslan at TAFE next year.

So, having made this very brief introduction, I hope I’ll see some of you around!
