I still haven’t finished my Christmas shopping, and given that tomorrow’s temperature is meant to be 38°C (100°F), I don’t think much is going to be achieved then either. I woke up at 11am today, and figured that the city was going to be absolute hell to venture into, so I didn’t bother. In fact, I really didn’t do much of anything today, and it was very nice indeed.
So that leaves next weekend for shopping, and that’s it. Some cark parks in the city are offering free parking for the first three hours, so you have to get in as soon as the car parks open in order to get a park. And trying to deal with thousands of last-minute shoppers is hardly my idea of fun. Christmas is such a pain.
My sister has all her shopping done - she’s usually finished in November. She’s had my birthday present for weeks, and it’s not my birthday until January. I guess it’s good to get it all out of the way, but if you do that, you miss out on all the pre-Christmas sales!

That whole Christmas in summer sounds so weird! I’m sure you’re used to it, but it must be strange to see all the snow-winter related imagery with Christmas on most of that stuff. Snowflakes, sleds, etc… Sorry to sound ignorant, but are there even places in Australia with snow?

Steph: I think Christmas in winter is weird! There’s so much American TV here though that I’m used to seeing all the ‘White Christmas’ stuff. And yes, there are places in Australia with snow. Not where I am though!

Eeeeew! 38 degrees … rub it in!
LOL I was going to ask the same question as Steph, so since you answered it already, I’ll just comment on it. When I was in the Philippines for 4 years, I did enjoy the warm Christmas weather. Believe me, I DID NOT miss the heavy coats and layers and layers of clothing. So, I guess it’s all a matter of adaptation.
Anyhoo, I’m not done with x’mas shopping yet either. But I’m being stingy this year, so it won’t be a lot. Goodluck to both of us

Nicole: Hahaha - Christmas in August. What DO you say to something like that? I think your response was very appropriate!
Groove: It wasn’t pleasant, believe me! The weather’s much more manageable now. I agree - I think you just get used to whatever environment you’re in. Normally I hate the cold, but when I was in Ireland I sort of got used to it. I don’t think I’d be able to handle winter there (or in a lot of places in the northern hemisphere) though!

Wow! I never think that far ahead! And I don’t know that I would know what I’d want to buy for people that far ahead.

I am SO behind, it’s unbelievable. Today is Sunday and I know the shops are open for Christmas shoppers. Who knows, I might venture out later. If I don’t, then I know I only have 2 free days before Christmas day and that’s Tuesday and Christmas eve arggh!
