I was a shopping dynamo today! I bought pretty much all of M’s birthday and Christmas presents. I had to walk around for 4 hours to do it, but I did it! I’ll have to examine what I’ve got to see if it’s enough. I hope he likes his stuff
Now I just have to buy for my family *sigh* Family members can be so hard to buy for.

It’s such an expensive time of year, JaG
I know the feeling, Dawn!
I think women have just as much trouble buying for family, Kunaal (well, this one does anyway)!

The person I dread shopping for is my Father, he only mentions things he wants when they are REALLY expensive. Everything else he buys for himself. Me being poor and all (
) I can never get him something I know for a fact that he wants.

I haven’t even started Christmas shopping yet. I’ll probably start about 5 or 6 days before Christmas- nothing like a little last minute pressure to get it all done!

The stress, the pressure, the heightened expectations, the empty wallet…welcome to Christmas

Missfee:
It wasn’t as fun as it sounds - I was buggered by the end of the day!
Dawn: Exactly… people don’t always want practical presents!
Jessica: Whenever I ask my dad what he wants (for any gift-giving occasion), he ALWAYS says ‘I haven’t thought about it yet.’ Grrr!
Saphiryn: It was less about the money spent, and more about the speed at which I walked around the shopping centre, trying to get everything done
Fashmagslag: Usually I don’t do mine until the last minute, so I’m surprised that most of it’s out of the way. The shops are going to be hell this weekend
Steph: Exactly… it’s just such a relief when all the shopping’s done. Well, the empty wallet bit’s not relieving, but it’s got another year to fill up for next time

“Now I just have to buy for my family *sigh* Family members can be so hard to buy for.”
Question: Why are we doing this stuff? I started this year, but stopped when I got annoyed.
Next year? I’m not even starting this nonsense. It’s just consumerism gone wild!
I get things for which I have no conceivable use, and I buy stuff that probably gets returned for refund!
Don’t we have better things to do with our time?
(Bit like quitting smoking, though, isn’t it? Wonder if I’ll manage…)
