You are fucking kidding me, right?
Is there really no way to list comments and delete a whole chunk at once in Movable Type? Lately I’ve been receiving the odd unwanted comment of the automated variety, and it’s been no problem to delete them individually (although it is a bit of a pain).
When I got home tonight, I noticed several more automated comments along the lines of over-friendliness with canine friends and family members, and I went to delete them, but there were more than I bargained for - I kept deleting, and deleting… and deleting… and I didn’t seem to be getting to the end, and I didn’t know how many more there were to go.
I was going fucking crazy. I’ve tried before to find the magical button that will list them all for me with nice little checkboxes that I can tick, but haven’t come up with anything, and I didn’t find anything today either.
Does anyone know? Please?? I will be seriously eternally grateful to anyone who can help. Friggin’ MT!

Me to babe, I’m not really sure how I can help you. I use Haloscan
Did you try to Google it?

Thanks, guys
I can’t wait to see the kittens again, Kissy - hopefully it won’t be too long - I want to see them at all stages of growth!
I did do a half-arsed Google attempt, Groove, but funnily enough I didn’t turn up anything
In the end I just had to go through one by one. Grrr. I’m calmed down now, though… except when I think about the frustration of deleting them! Breeeeeathe…

i have no idea about the comments thing, but good idea about the abay venture. we use the wood based litter - doesn’t smell, no icky clumps, easy to clean - its miles better than fullers earth or that gritty stuff

Hi Missfee! Hope you’re enjoying yourself
Maybe I should have a look for the wood-based stuff. The stuff we use now is ok, but previously - that was just awful.
Doesn’t matter, Zia, thanks anyway

I don’t know how to help either, unfortunately. Just use your blogger blog again if you are having too many problems.

It’s been ok since then, JR. *crosses fingers* Hopefully it was just a one-off! On that scale, anyway.

I’m not sure whether I can put plugins in, Brian, since I’m not hosting my blog myself - can I do that?

re: the checkboxes
you’re still using mt 2.66, right? (i don’t know mt 3.0) anyway, if you go to a particular entry’s edit page, in the ‘advanced options’ section, right after the text-edit area, you’ll see a list of the comments. each comment would have a corresponding checkbox to tick for deletion (you might have to ‘customize the display of this page’ if the comments section doesn’t show).
i hope this helps, but you probably know this already.

Thanks, c317, I did know about that. Since there was only one automated comment per entry, I still would have had to go to each entry individually and delete the comment, so it would have been quicker to do it from the main menu (which is what I did). What I was hoping for was a page which had every comment on there, regardless of which entry it was from. Thanks anyway though!

Yeah dude, check out the Movable Type support forum and get the plugin MT Blacklist
Anytime u get a comment email notification, it has a link at the bottom “if this is spam, click here” which then adds the person to your master BLACKlisting of recognised spammers, deletes the comment and then rebuilds your site
*takes breath*
yeah. it rocks.

I have found that blacklist plugin, but am not sure whether I can install it myself since I’m not hosting my own blog. Maybe I’ll email the people there and ask if they can put it on. Thanks, G!
