To quote a wise man: Yaaaaaaaawn!
It looks like the tiredness bug is going around at the moment, because today I feel like a zombie. I had the worst night’s sleep last night. I can’t remember the last time I slept so poorly.
I was web surfing last night, and M was having a look at a monitor that was having problems. I heard a loud bang, and then my computer died. When I looked over, M was sitting back on the floor, looking at the multimeter he’d been using. A small puff of smoke was coming from the monitor. So ended last night’s internet adventure.
We turned the power back on and went to bed. We’d had the electric blankets on for a couple of hours, so the bed was quite warm. As usual, I turned my side off, and assumed the bed would cool down fairly quickly the way it normally does, but it didn’t last night. I was cooking! I had my arms on top of the covers, but I could just not cool down. Then I heard a scratching sound, and I assumed my cat was clawing something. I tried to ignore it, but I couldn’t. I got up a couple of times to try to see what he was doing, but of course by the time I got there he’d stopped. Plus it was pitch black so I didn’t even know where to look. The sound didn’t stop, though, so I went downstairs to make sure they had enough food etc, since when they’re hungry they usually make noise to let us know they’re not happy. They had plenty of food, so I went back to bed.
I couldn’t fall asleep, though, because I was just waiting for the scratching to start up again, which it did. It was 5:00 by then, and I’d only had a couple of hours’ sleep, if that. I got up again and sat in the study with my cat, hoping somehow that he’d settle down and shut the hell up, when I heard the scratching sound again. So it wasn’t my cat after all - as it turned out, M’s cat was shut in the spare room. So I let her out, and went back to bed, knowing that the cat noises would be done.
I eventually got back to sleep, but we were woken at 8:15 by a phone call telling us when the gas guy was coming to look at our heater. We got up about 45 minutes later, since we didn’t want to be asleep when they rocked up. M hardly slept last night either, so we’re both feeling stuffed.
I’ve had two cups of coffee and my head still feels as though it’s full of cotton wool. Early night tonight!

When I first read about the electric blanket, I was a bit confused, but then I realized that it’s winter in Oz….I can be so stupid at times!

I don’t know whether I could do 6… well maybe I could. I’ll give it a try - thanks for the recommendation!
I get that, too, JR! Yes, it is most definitely winter here
Brrr.

Well, artistic licence may have been taken
Mosquitoes absolutely suck! Especially when you’re about to drop off to sleep, and you suddenly hear one buzzing in your ear. It drives me nuts!
