I know lots of people don’t like reality tv, so out of consideration to those of you who fall into that category, I won’t make you read what’s underneath if you don’t want to. Topics of discussion include Survivor and My Restaurant Rules, so consider yourself forewarned.

In the series of Survivor before the All Stars, I posted quite frequently on my opinions (ok, mainly about Jon), but didn’t really write about the most recent one. I think I just couldn’t be stuffed. Not that I wasn’t watching - I definitely was. I was exceedingly annoyed that Amber and Rob M made it to the final 2. But it was a nice touch of him to ask her to marry him - it’s always good to hedge your bets. But the main thing I wanted to say was that I’m pleased that Rupert was awarded the second $1 million. I voted for him. They should have called it something other than ‘America’s Tribal Council’ though, since anyone anywhere in the world could vote online. But anyway. Go Rupert!!

I also wanted to mention something about My Restaurant Rules. At the beginning of the series, I was half expecting Adelaide to be removed from the competition fairly early… I guess I just assumed that Melbourne or Sydney would hold more popularity, being bigger states. As it went on and Adelaide was voted the best restaurant in a couple of reviews, I found myself barracking for them and thinking that they might actually have a chance.

But after tonight’s episode I’m changing my mind about Adelaide. What I’m talking about is the dinner they had with Sam and Catherine, and the state of the restaurant the next day, and them trying to cover everything up. They did it once with the scooter cruising through the kitchen, and playing around with the utensils, and got told off, and now they’re fucking around again. They didn’t show what happened (apparently the surveillance cameras had been covered up), but the scooter had obviously been brought out again, and the place was trashed. What the hell is that all about? Maybe the reason that we’ve got another week to vote is that Adelaide wasn’t bottom in the voting totals, and the show wanted to air the bit about Adelaide’s Sam and Catherine dinner to get viewers to vote for the other states and get rid of Adelaide.

I don’t blame them. Nick and Emily say they’re only 21 and 22, and look how far they’ve come, but they’ve also shown more than once that they don’t have the maturity to run a restaurant. Lately I’ve found it really embarrassing to watch them. The last time the accountant came round, Nick and Emily had no idea really what the state of their accounts was, and when they showed an impromptu visit from him tonight, they still had no idea. Get your shit together!

At this stage I’m hoping Perth will win. I’ve had more than I can take of Pete and his ‘motivational’ speeches. He can stick them, as well as his constant finger snapping, up his arse. I don’t particularly like Ash and Amanda, but they haven’t done anything to piss me off yet (heh, doesn’t take much :) ).
