I like Fridays. Not just because of the obvious weekendy reasons, but because on Fridays there’s a new Friday Five (well not this week, but other weeks), and I can find out what happened on the most recent episode of Survivor in the US. Hmmm, I thought there were more reasons than that, but it’s a good start. Some people think I’m crazy for wanting to know what happens before it’s shown here, but for me it doesn’t detract from the show at all. They don’t say everything in the summary, and you still get to see how it’s all played out. But I do that with other shows too.
I went Christmas shopping again tonight. One good thing about Christmas is that you get about 3 times as much junk mail than during the rest of the year, so you can look through and decide what to get people. So we went into town, safe in the knowledge of what we were going to get, only to find that it wasn’t there 
Then on the way home we went to one of their stores in the suburbs, and they didn’t have any there either 
So now we either find something similar somewhere else, or come up with something else to get. But it wasn’t a total waste, I bought 10 pairs of socks 
Now I can throw away all the socks that I’ve been wearing since I was a child, and ones that I bought about 10 years ago. I really needed new socks. I’m looking forward to wearing them. I know, simple pleasures.
I had a fairly busy week at work. We close for Christmas in 2 weeks (yay), and I have to have a program finished by then. Deadlines suck. Hopefully it’ll work out, and I won’t have to come in over the break to finish it.
And while I’m on a roll, I’m going through a mobile phone phase again. I don’t need a new phone. There are several things that I like about my phone, but it’s not colour, and it would be good if I could get one a fraction smaller. But other than that, it’s nice and slim, and the predictive text is really good. I keep changing my new phone criteria. It pretty much always includes longer standby time and smaller height, and varies between me thinking that I absolutely have to have colour, and I can live without it. I’ve been on and off the mobile phone thing for a while. There was a time where I was spending ages looking at items on Ebay, and being really unhappy when they got too expensive for me. That is sick. Thank God I’m over that now. But, in my defence, I thought the Samsung S300 was a really cool phone! It’s colour, and has a colour external display as well… sigh. I still like it. But now that I’m over that, the object of my obsession is the Panasonic G55. It’s a lot more affordable at least. I saw it in town tonight, and it’s really small! It has an antenna though, which is a bummer. It’s not colour, so if I got it, it definitely wouldn’t be an upgrade. But it’s a lot smaller than my current GD92, even with the antenna, the standby is longer, and it has a scheduler (which I don’t really need since I use a PDA, but would be handy for quick reminders). Oh well, give me a few days and I’ll be over this obsession and ready for the next one.
